Lularoe Queue Club – Week Two

Hi Ladies!  Wow, two weeks have flown by since I’ve submitted my paperwork to Lularoe.  I’ve been a busy bee getting ready for my business to officially launch.  If you missed what I did in week one, check it out here:

One of my goals with documenting and sharing this is for my team (and future team) so that they can see the steps taken leading up to onboarding and receiving inventory.  Seeing everything you need to do all at once can be overwhelming, so breaking it down week by week helps to keep that overwhelm away!14355838_10103229689942339_1437519554_n

So what did I do in week 2:

  • Banking-ordered some deposit tickets, activated card so I could finally start thinking about ordering supplies!
  • I made a public announcement that I was waiting to onboard with Lularoe and that this is my new business venture.  Sharing with your friends, family and social media is SUPER important!  There are so many people that already love LLR that will be excited for you and want to support you, so SHARE what you’re up to!
  • Made my Lularoe Facebook business page public!  Woo hoo!  In the first 4 days it was up and running I had around 190 people like the new page and show their support, which was amazing!  Now while you’re waiting to make your BIG announcement, you can create your biz page and just not publicly publish it yet. But in the waiting period make sure that you’ve got great images on there that are customized to your biz, your contact info, and stock pile a little content so your page is fresh all the time.
  • After making my announcement and sharing my new business FB page, I shared my VIP group so people could request to join, you can find that here: This is the group where you will host online sales, share upcoming inventory with your clients, make relationships with your clients, be engaged, be informative, be encouraging, share tips, etc!  This group is super important!  Always aim to provide value to your clients! My goal is to make my VIP group a community of confident women empowering each other!
  • I wrote and shared my blog post on about WHY LULAROE! Make sure that when you become a consultant you share what influenced your decision to join! People want to know you! What drives you!  Be real, that’s how we connect with each other.
  • ETSY claimed too much of my time! Yikes!  I wanted to find some cute business cards!  On Etsy you can order business card templates that are personalized to you and then download the file and have them printed at Staples or VistaPrint! That option will save you a few bucks!  My template is super cute and was only $8!! My cards will be ordered as soon as my cute template is customized by the graphic artist! YAY! Oh and one tip on this, get cards that are multipurpose, for example, my cards not only have my info but a sizing area for clients to write their sizes next to each style LLR offers, as well as my exchange policy, how to care for your LLR and info about hosting a pop up or becoming a consultant as well as a BUY 10 get 1 Free!  Woo hoo! Who doesn’t love something for free!?
  • Content and Posting Schedule.  OK, if you haven’t worked in social media land before this one might be new to you BUT the best way to work in social media land is to have a content calendar!  Basically you look at the whole upcoming month and decide what you’re sharing, posting, creating, every day for your clients, audience, team, etc. You can create themed days or have a theme to your week. Whatever works for you!  I block off a good chunk of time to do this BUT the beauty is that each day I don’t have to scramble about what I’m sharing and posting!  The work was already done and I just have to hit POST!  I create content for both my biz page and VIP group.  Again it’s about providing value to your market! Stay positive as possible, helpful, encouraging, etc.
  • Booking/potential bookings!  I started reaching out to people that were interested in hosting online or in person pop ups. Since I don’t know the exact date I’ll receive my inventory letting them know that it would most likely be later Oct. was important and just making sure to keep track to who is interested so once the onboarding call comes, I can set those dates on my calendar.  So even though you might be waiting for your beautiful LLR to come in, talk to friends and family about helping you get started!  I mean, afterall, they get FREE clothes!  SCORE!
  • Lastly, I wrote this blog post on a freaking gorgeous afternoon on my front porch on the first day that felt like fall!  That’s the beauty of being a small business owner and entrepreneur! I work from where I want to work, in my comfy leggings, listening to “today’s Christian Hits” on Pandora, drinking my first pumpkin spice breve coffee of the season.  Yes, being an entrepreneur is work but it’s rewarding and fun and freeing.  If you’ve been thinking about taking the leap into entrepreneurship, DO IT! And if you’ve thought about doing it with Lularoe, what are you waiting for? Let’s talk so you can have the details!  I’d LOVE to work with you and help you create a strong business. Email me, if you’re local I’ll treat you to a coffee date and if you’re not we can skype and drink coffee at the same time 😉

That’s a wrap on week 2! Thanks for being part of this journey with me! Hope you’re enjoying learning what it’s like to be in the queue!

Lularoe Queue Club – Week 1 Update

Time flies when you’re having fun!  In case you’re wondering what the “queue” is, it’s basically the waiting list for those of us that have submitted our paperwork to the LuLaRoe home office and we are patiently dreaming of the day our phone will ring to onboard as an official consultant where we can order our inventory!

Right now, I believe there is a 6-8 week waiting period and most people see that and think, “what the heck am I going to do waiting for all that time?”  Oh ladies, let me tell you, there are plenty of things to attend to when it comes to setting up your own small business and I’ve decided to document all the things I do leading up to my onboarding phone call, so that when you decide to join my team, you’ll have all the steps to take 🙂

Think of the time this way, if you wanted to open a brick and mortar clothing store, you wouldn’t be able to have the idea today and open tomorrow right? You’d need time to find your space, open a bank account, get financing, order supplies, market, etc.  That’s exactly how you have to treat this time “in queue.”

Week one looked like this for me:

  • Submitted all paperwork to the home office and printed out my consultant guide.
  • I created a new email account specifically for my LLR business.  You should create a gmail account. It’s totally free and provides you awesome benefits like Google Drive which will be your bestie for organization online!  My new email is so if you have questions, reach me there.
  • I create new social media accounts!  If you’re not on FB or IG already, now is the time to get that done! Social media is a huge way that people are doing business now and a great way to get outside of your warm market. Most people take to social media to find out information about businesses and products, so don’t miss the boat on this one.  My new FB is Lularoe Dorothy Booth  and IG is Lularoe Dorothy Booth as well.  As you will see, keeping your name the SAME across your platforms is SUPER important for your brand identity and for people to find you with ease.
  • I created my VIP shopping group on FB.  This is an awesome thing to do where you can hold weekly online sales and share your new inventory with your customers, answer their questions and even go live within your FB page and really create relationships and get to know your clients.  You can find my group here:
  • You don’t have to do this one but I already had a blog established BUT it was based on fitness, nutrition, etc.  So I changed the domain name and removed some of my fitness based offerings that I’m no longer offering for the remainder of the year. is where I’ll be sharing all about my LLR journey. Having a blog is another great way for people to gain information and get to know you!  Provide value always on your blog!
  • OK, let’s talk FINANCING!  That’s something that many people freak about when they see the price to start their LLR business, but you have to see it as an investment in your future, not a price tag.  If you’re serious about your business and treat it as one, you will make your investment back quickly.  Right now you can plan to spend around $6,000 and that’s your inventory and then purchasing supplies you’ll need for your inventory, pop-ups, etc.  So there are a number of ways that people choose to finance this and perhaps I’ll do another post on that, but here I’ll share with you what I did.  To cover my initial investment of $5300 for my inventory, I will be using a 0%apr for 12 months, credit card as well as pulling some from savings.  So this week I applied and was approved for the card. MANY new consultants get started this way, and as long as you have good credit you shouldn’t have a problem finding financing this way. (like I said I’ll blog more about this later).
  • Set up a new bank account!  You don’t want to co-mingle funds. That becomes a mess and the IRS sure doesn’t like that IF you’re ever audited.  To open my account I used the savings money and money from my previous business that I rolled over.
  • Made a list of the 50 people I wanted to share my new venture with.  If you pay attention to your newsfeed on social media, you’ll see SO many people who already love LLR!  Reach out to them!  They might LOVE to host a pop up or online sale to get free clothing!
  • Start watching training videos and reading over any documents that your team provides for getting started.
  • Decided on how I wanted to announce my new venture via social media and created content around that topic.

Now your week one could look different from mine, but I just wanted to share what I’ve done to get ready so far!  I’d love to know if you’re a current consultant what you did in week 1!  Comment below!  Or if you have any questions about LLR, onboarding or joining my team, feel free to comment or email me at

Hope this was helpful!

Why LuLaRoe?

I’ve never been 100% comfortable with my body. Growing up I was super athletic and was the girl that had to get the jeans a size bigger just to fit her legs while the waist gaped. It was super attractive.  I started having body image issues when I was in 7th grade and they just intensified through HS and college, manifesting itself as disordered eating in the form of binging and obsessive exercise.

Let’s fast forward into my 20s. I dove into the health and fitness industry to keep myself in “check” with my weight. Always striving for a body that I thought I should have.  Because I was never truly happy with what I saw looking back at me, the idea of having a baby and listening to so many women saying how they never “bounced back” afterwards terrified me.  I had never gotten to where I wanted to be before a baby so how would I feel good in my own skin afterwards?

Then it happened.  I found myself 20 weeks pregnant, struggling with what I saw in the mirror. Nothing fit right, not even maternity clothes.  Getting dressed in the morning turned into an Olympic event of stretching and pulling and grunting and crying.  So I reached out on FB asking if anyone used Lularoe as maternity wear?  I’d never even tried any of their clothing on, but I knew that the leggings were supposedly to die for.  A friend responded that they were having a pop up and I should come.

That afternoon, I found myself in 2 rooms full of bright colored, patterned clothing. I took 2 pairs of leggings and an Irma (tunic) into a bedroom to change and as soon as I pulled those buttery leggings onto my body I knew that the clouds had parted and my days of frustration in my closet were over.  As I stood in front of a full length mirror, I felt pretty, despite my growing belly.  Everything fit so well. No rolls, no pinching, no uncomfortable anything. I felt cute and comfortable and happy!  I felt confident in this ever changing, expanding body growing our baby boy, whereas 30 minutes prior to showing up the the pop up I was body shaming myself for the way the maternity shorts were (or weren’t) fitting me and how self conscious I was.

My self consciousness dropped right there at that pop up.  I felt confident in what I was wearing and I felt good and I knew that I wanted to help other women feel that same way no matter what shape or size they were because we all deserve to feel good in our own skin!

I’m sharing with you that a huge part of my mission is to empower and inspire women and increase body acceptance so it should be no surprise to you all that I decided to become a LuLaRoe consultant and am currently waiting to onboard and receive my inventory!  I’m super excited not only to have clothing that makes me feel beautiful and confident but to help other women feel that exact same way!

I love what LuLaRoe stands for and it was 100% something I could promote. I can still focus on my health, my family, serving others, helping other women of all shapes and sizes feel amazing in their bodies, help them build businesses and generate income for our families and be able to give generously to our communities!

So I’m curious, have you heard of LuLaRoe, are you addicted to their awesome clothing or thought of being a consultant yourself?

Positive Money Mindset & The Key to Wealth You’re Missing

Money, money, money, money…money!

Ok, I’ll stop being funny…no I won’t that was a lie.

But for real today we’re going to talk about a subject that most people are uncomfortable talking about…MONEY and FINANCES. HOWEVER before anyone gets all weird on me I want to tell you one thing, MONEY IS A NEUTRAL RESOURCE. It’s not good or bad.  Money isn’t a problem but it’s our attitude towards it.

I want you to know where I’m coming from, I do have a business degree and I did work in the banking industry for 4 years prior to joining the health industry SO I do have a good understanding of what I’m about to talk about. And because of that background my eyes have been opened to so many financial opportunities that others miss, that I really feel I have to talk about this!

I want you to know that Money isn’t my obsession but what I am obsessed with is freedom and the dreams that can be built not only for me and my family but you and yours when you do have financial freedom. Everyone deserves a future they can look forward to, not one they dread and because people manage to dig such financial holes, life turns into a drudgery and you can never retire.

I want you to remember that It’s not faith to live hand to mouth and it’s not good stewardship.

OK So lets get rolling!

You know what’s funny but not funny? So many of us would like to make more money and there’s NOTHING wrong with that but we feel like we’re greedy or selfish and we feel bad because we want it.  I’m here to tell you that’s a thought built on a crummy belief system.  Somewhere along the line someone probably said something to you about “rich people being greedy, “ or “money is the root of all evil,” or  something negative around having or making money or my favorite one is that you can’t be religious and have money…give me a break. All of these things you saw or heard by people close to you most likely and it was because they had their own insecurities around money, these people had poverty mindsets, they were consumed with jealousy and envy for what others had…both of these things are unbiblical. And being consumed by those they’ll never have the prosperity mindset.  What we tend to see is happen in the money world is negative thinking around money is passed down generation to generation BUT I’m here to tell you that chain can be broken with you!

Can you relate to having negative thoughts around money? Do you maybe come from a family with negative beliefs around money that I mentioned? I know I can!

The even worse part is that when we have negative thoughts around money, we will never have money!  It’s like repellant.  Negative thoughts don’t bring in positive results. So saying things like “I’m always broke,” “My money is all gone before I get paid,” “I’ll never get ahead financially,” “I’ll never be able to retire,” “I can never afford vacation,” is manifesting being BROKE! You’re literally speaking what you don’t want for yourself into existence because that’s all you’re dwelling on. Remember, perception is your reality and what you focus on grows in your life. There are people in the same financial situation as you that choose to still see the silver lining and the positive and they will be the ones that come out ahead.

So what can we do to change our money situation? I’ve got a number of things for you today, listen up:

Number one, change how your view money. It’s not evil. If you’re a crappy person before you have money, you’ll be a crappy person with money but you all watching are great people with big caring hearts so you’ll be wonderful people with money! Get me?  And if you’re a great person you will most likely not be selfish or greedy and you’ll be using that money as a way to bless others as well.  You will broaden your vision beyond yourself and your families and you’ll seek out ways to serve to serve the needs of others and your community.  You will be cheerful givers and be helping to change the world.

Number two, change how you speak about money.  Only talk about money in positive terms…even if you’re struggling financially you need to say things like, “I have all the money I need to pay my bills and then some,” “I am financially secure,” “my work is of high value and I’m compensated well for it,” speak it into existence because what you start to believe you will actually achieve and attract just like you saying I’m broke all the time actually keeps you doing the habits that keep you broke.

Number 3, make a budget people! You need to know where your money goes and you need to be responsible for it! Stop spending on eating out multiple times a week, hitting up convenience stores on your break, upgraded satellite packages with 100 channels you never watch, clothes you don’t need to keep up with the latest season’s trends, getting a new vehicle every 4 years and always having revolving debt on something that depreciates quickly, and keeping up with the Jones’s…hint…the Jones’ are probably trying to keep up with you and you’re both making each other broke!  Stop it! Stop it until you can really afford to live like that! I read a statistic today that the average American household is $15,263 in credit card debt alone. Holy Moses people, we’ve gotta get it together! If God’s blessed you with enough but you’re being financially irresponsible, you can’t keep crying for more!  When God entrusts you with His money and you’re irresponsible, what makes you think he’d entrust you with more?

SO you’re probably like OK Dorothy, thanks for those three tips but they don’t change alot so how do I get out of my situation? How do I create financial freedom? I can’t work more hours, my boss won’t give me a raise, I don’t have the education for a different position, I feel stuck. Well I just gave you three tips, but #4 is my favorite and most people don’t take advantage of it because they think it’s too much work, and they start making excuses (which we talked about yesterday) as to why it won’t work…blah blah blah…Remember this is truthbomb Thursday and I don’t sugar coat things.  If you want change, you create change and if changing your financial future is important to you, you will get over your excuses, otherwise you’ll continue to complain and stay in your rut…plain and simple.

Well grab your paper and grab your pen for tip Number 4 because this is the key to the castle.

What’s that you ask? It’s the ability to make money even when you’re not “working.”  Have you heard the term residual income before? Maybe you have and maybe you didn’t understand what it really meant. It’s truly the key to financial security. Residual income is what can happen after you put time, effort and sometimes money into a job/business to continue to get paid for the work months & years after it’s done. What you need to realize about your 9-5 is that it’s  linear income. Linear income is directly related to the number of hours you work. If you work 40 hours, you get paid for 40 hours of work. Once you go home, you’re not making income. BUT Once you set up your business to earn residual income, you continue to make money while doing other things –vacationing, sleeping, playing with your kiddos, whatever.

I want you to remember this fact, the average millionaire has 7 streams of income and 5 of them are residual.  So how many streams do you have of income? Just through your employer? Don’t feel bad if you do, that’s why we’re here today is to generate some ideas for you!

  1. Affiliate sales.  Do you love target, amazon, thrive market or practically any other company? Odds are that you could be an affiliate for them and make a % of the sales from people ordering through your link.  If people are always asking you where you shop or where you found xyz, why not get paid for making the referral?
  2. What do you have a good knowledge base in or people ask you about frequently? Write an ebook that you can passively sell on sites like Esty or on your blog!
  3. Are you creative? Use sites like Zazzle and Cafepress to create anything for t-shirts to mugs and stationary for people to purchase.
  4. If that E-book does well, take your knowledge base and create a mini course online for people to buy and go through on their own.

So those were a few smaller ideas, but moving up the latter lets look at few of the big guns that will require an investment but pay out!!

  1. If you’re able invest in real estate and have rental properties.
  2. Create and manufacture your own product and sell it
  3. Franchising! This may be the most pricey option but perhaps going in with your family would help cushion that.
  4. And lastly my favorite and you might be surprised by, Network Marketing. Network marketing is great because the price point is usually pretty low for starting a business and if you find a company where the timing is right to join (not a company that’s already super saturated) and they’re positioned to excel with growth in the next few years and the products you can 100% stand behind and the price point is right for your market you can make substantial residual income.  NWM may get a bad wrap sometimes but it’s been around for decades and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and IF (that’s the key word) if you get out of your own way, choose the right company and team to join, cut the excuses and don’t care what others think that aren’t paying your bills, and you can be teachable and apply your training in the RIGHT way and be a professional (trust me I see plenty doing this the WRONG way), you’ll go far!

So I hope that these tips were helpful to you today!  I know that so many of you watching want to create a future that you can look forward to, I know that you want to create a lasting legacy for your family, you want to be present for your family, you want to call the shots on your life, your time and your earning potential.  I just handed you the key to the castle so now it’s your turn to do the work. If you need more help reach out to me!

I want you to remember something, most people think it’s crazy to work your side biz 2-5 years with consistent hustle to become financially secure, but isn’t it more crazy to work 40 years and stay broke?

Opportunity Knocks

Have you ever had an opportunity presented to you, but it seemed like a risk, a leap of faith or too much hard work so you passed it up and went with what you thought was the sure thing??

We all have!

I want to share a portion of the sermon I listened to this weekend shared a prime example of that!  The pastor’s wife, when she was growing up her dad had money to invest and had 2 choices.  1 was a tobacco warehouse and living in southern VA that seemed like the sure thing.  The 2nd was an up and coming drink company.  He went with the tobacco warehouse because it seemed less risky and not such a huge leap.  You know what happened? The warehouse went under and that drink company, well it was Cocacola!  Can you imagine?!

If that was you wouldn’t you be kicking yourself?  I know I would and I know I’ve experienced those myself.  Maybe you can look back at a job opportunity or the opportunity to start a business, a relationship, a big move somewhere, anything.

So many times we pray, we beg God to help us change our situation in one area of our life or another.  Praying is where we go right BUT what we do next is where we tend to fail.

God might not answer us in the way we’d expect.  It might be a whisper and we were expecting a marching band.  It might be through a person we just met and we were expecting it through someone we’ve known forever that we consider the wisest person we know. We want God to send a skywriting airplane, or a postcard with exact directions to our next step.

That’s not how he operates.  You pray for something to show up and we have a preconceived notion of how it should look, how it should go, that it should fit some specific mold we’ve made and God breaks the mold.

When we pray to see opportunities we need to drop all of our requirements.  God’s plan doesn’t fit into a box.  We need to pray for the opportunity but then also to have an open mind, heart and eyes to see it when it comes.

And when it comes in a form you didn’t expect, don’t question, JUST JUMP!  That’s the biggest thing I’ve learned.  All you have to have is the faith of a mustard seed.  Yes it might be scary but I want you to remember that faith and fear both demand you believe in something you cannot see, you choose!  If you go with fear, you’ll never live in that full potential and opportunity God sent you way.  If you jump and allow your faith to be your guide, not saying everything will always be roses, but you’ll you be far happier, have less regrets and be living in your purpose and you will serve the world in such a greater way…your mind will be blown!

Whatever God puts in front of you DO IT!

You cant just dabble, you can’t just put one toe in to test the water. You have to be ALL IN!

If you want more info like this, leave me some comments!  Thursday (7/21) night at 8pm eastern I’ll be hosting a LIVE webinar about why I’m changing my BIG vision, why belief in myself has become my number one priority and my clear cut strategy for success and how you can do the same in your life! It’s by invitation only, so if you want the tools to start your own life transformation. Drop your contact info to ask for access!  Can’t wait to see you there!

Happy Mind, Happy Life

Happiness is something that we make difficult when really it’s simple. Happiness is NOT contingent on your bank account, pant size, weight, house, where you live, your job, relationship status, the car you drive or how far you went in your education.

Happiness is 100% free.

Happiness is a choice you make each day when you wake up.

Happiness is a state you can enjoy RIGHT NOW if you change the lens you view your life through.  Happiness lies within, not externally, so let’s remove the happiness blocks.

So if we find ourselves lacking our happy, how do you we get it back?  Here are 10 quick tips:

  1. Practice gratitude and count your blessings. When you wake up take time to be thankful or write out three things you’re grateful for or blessed by each day.
  2. SMILE more! Making a smiling face carries over to our emotions. Plus it makes the world a prettier place.
  3. Daily affirmations. Using “I am” statements based on current needs.  For example, if you’re lacking confidence in your business maybe your statement is, “I am confident and successful in my business.”
  4. Hold back on complaining, gossiping or any negative self talk.
  5. Take up personal growth. Audio like podcasts or audiobooks or reading personal growth and development books.  Fill your brain with positive info daily!
  6. Take care of your body!  Nutrition and exercise play a huge role in how we feel and impact things like anxiety and depression.  Exercise releases happy endorphins!  So get moving.
  7. Surround yourself with individuals that raise you up, not bring you down.
  8. Be kind to others.  This is the golden rule.  Do nice things for others and it brings you joy!
  9. Meditation and/or prayer, even if it’s just 3 minutes daily.
  10. Look for the silver lining in all situations.  Know all situations happen for you not to you and can teach something and help you grow.

I hope that you can apply some of these tips to your life and ultimately remember that HAPPINESS IS AN INSIDE JOB!

Choose happy today!

What’s Defining You?

What are you being defined by?

  • Your body?
  • Your career?
  • Your education level?
  • What your friends, parents, boss, spouse say about you?
  • Past mistakes?

I’ve allowed myself to be defined by all of these things too.  At some point I’m sure something on this list (and things not on the list) we have all felt defined by. But none of these things are what we are!!!

We aren’t our body, but we have a body.

We have a career, but we are not our career.

We may or may not have finished schooling, but we’re not our IQ or diploma.

People in our lives may doubt us, may say negative things but that’s actually not about us at all and it has everything to do with how poorly they see themselves, how insecure they are!

We might make mistakes, but we aren’t mistakes.  Mistakes are nothing more than growth opportunities.

What are we really? We are souls having a human experience honestly. Does that mean that we shouldn’t take care of our bodies? That’s not what I’m saying. Yes, I do believe that taking care of the flesh is important because it houses the soul and for us to be able to actually do what we are called to do, what I refer to as our “SOUL WORK,” the flesh has to be able! But our exterior shouldn’t be the main focus of our lives.  A Course in Miracles says, “Do not fight yourself,” meaning waging war against your body is only glorifying it, and creating an idol.  Beating yourself up based on your body takes love away from the world instead of adding to it.  It decreases your ability to bring good into the world. Stop “punishing” your body, whether through deprivation or indulging.  Treat your body with respect and love, period. It’s a gift.

Does that surprise you coming from a personal trainer and health coach?  Those might be titles that the world gave me to describe what I do, but what I actually do and want people to know is that I’m a lightworker, a mentor, helping others see the power that is within them and helping them embrace what they’re here on this world to do!

What is our purpose here? Is it to pick a career at 22, stick it out no matter what, punch a time clock, pay our bills and die? Yeah, I know it’s not and you know it’s not as well.  I believe our purpose here is to:

  1. LOVE. Love ourselves. Love each other. Heal the world with LOVE.
  2. Be good stewards with everything we have.  That means utilizing our gifts, talents, abilities, that have been given to us for a specific purpose.  USE THEM! The world needs you, that’s why you were created!  You have something to offer!
  3. To help others through this crazy thing called life by teaching what we’ve learned from our own experiences and to help them become all they were created to be and recognize that they are spiritual beings having a human experience.

None of those above 3 things have anything to do with the size of your body, the career you picked, if you finished school or what your diploma says or what other people think about you!  Let’s work on not being defined by those things, the things the world tells us are important and let’s start focusing on what is important, loving ourselves and others and shining our unique and authentic light into the world to help guide others!

What are your unique gifts and talents that you can use to make the world a better place?  How are you using them? Comment below!  I want to know!

Go change the world,

Repeat 3-4 times depending on your fitness level.  Beginners 3x, everyone else 4x. Take 1 minute between circuits.

Two 10lb dumbbells would be perfect for this workout and if you find yourself super fatigued on your last circuit, drop the weights for your squats and lunges.  Body weight moves are still excellent!

Make sure to stay hydrated!

GrifGrips Product Review

If you’ve ever worn an insulin pump or a CGM, you know the headache that comes along with trying to keep those things on your body!  It seems like the adhesive NEVER lasts as long as it should and our supplies are EXPENSIVE!  I know I’ve personally paid anywhere from $300 for a box of 4 Dexcom sensors (a typical month supply) to $75 for a box of 4, depending on what my insurance decided at that point in time and what mail order pharmacy I was “allowed” to use.

In an effort to get every last second of use out of my supplies and make that adhesive last as long as possible, I tried EVERYTHING.  First is was medical tape.  That was a horrendous disaster that resulted in the worst skin rash of my life!  I’m pretty sure the tape actually burned my skin. PASS.

Next up was using IV prep wipes which leaves the skin a little sticky and then placing clear plastic adhesive called IV3000 over the site or CGM sensor.  The issue with this one was having to cut holes in the IV3000 to fit just perfecting over the CGM sensor.  I wasted more IV3000 in the process than I actually used. PASS.

I tried bandaids when all else failed and I was out and about.  I’ve seen some people resort to duct tape! Ouch!

Finally, I found RockTape H20.  It was amazing because it was stretchy and water resistant and I used that for at least a solid year if not more.  However, it comes in one big roll, and I was always having to cut strips of it and perfectly position it around my sensor.  After a day or two it would start to peel, sometimes right after it was freshly applied it would get caught on my clothing and I’d have to start over again.  But at this point in my journey, this was the best I had found, so I assumed I’d just have to make due!

It wasn’t until recently that I found GrifGrips! I decided I had nothing to lose and at their LOW price point I ordered two different grips and anxiously awaited their arrival in my mailbox. When the pink and purple CGM cut out grips showed up I was too excited to wait for my hubby to come home to help me apply it BUT to my surprise I was able to apply it by myself, one handed without issue.  The hot pink grip definitely stood out! It was flexible and moving around I didn’t even notice it was there…unlike other products I’ve used.

Typically even with my RockTape, I had to replace it at least 2x during the week of my sensor use. So far with this one GrifGrip, I’ve had no adhesive issues, no sticking to my clothes and it’s still holding SUPER STRONG.  I’m about a week into this one and I’ll make sure to update this blog as time passes to let you guys know just how long it holds on!

This company is truly taking care of the diabetic community!  Not only did they manage to make a product that would help with my CGM sensor issue, but they have created products that run the gamut of every diabetic apparatus out there; omnipods, all 3 CGMs, and every infusion set created by all the different pump companies.  The lightweight, stretchy, breathable material will keep cgm/omnipod/infusion sets, safely in place while also allowing customized colors, patterns and shapes so long gone are the days of being  locked into the boring white or nude colors or medical tape/bandaids.

If you’re tired of losing your expensive sensors, pods and infusion sets check out GrifGrips AND because you’re my loyal reader, I’ve got something special for you! GrifGrips is offering 25% off to those of you that order and use the code ‘THRIVE’ at checkout!  So what are you waiting for? Head over there now and pick out your favorite color and shape and get fancy with your T1D and then let me know which ones you decide to get!!!

Hope this was super helpful!

Low Carb Zucchini Bread

One of my favorite things to make once the weather is warm and all the zucchini’s are popping out of everyone’s garden’s at lightening speed is zucchini bread!  It’s great as a snack or for breakfast with a good cup of coffee while sitting on the porch getting ready for an awesome day! (recipe below picture)

  • 1 cup (1 small to medium) zucchini, finely shredded and moisture squeezed out
  • 4 eggs
  • 2-3 Tbsp. honey or Walden Farms pancake syrup (walden farms will reduce carbs)
  • 1 small banana, mashed
  • 1 tbsp sweve sweetener (buy here)
  • 1 Tbsp. coconut oil, plus extra if greasing the pan
  • 1/2 cup coconut flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
  • ½ cup rough chopped pecans

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease a loaf pan with coconut oil.
  3. Shred your zucchini, and cheesecloth squeeze all the moisture.
  4. Mix the egg, honey or syrup, swerve, oil, and banana together in a large bowl.
  5. Mix in the dry ingredients and zucchini, then add the apple cider vinegar, and stir until the batter is smooth.
  6. Stir in the nuts.

Pour batter into a greased loaf pan and bake for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. (Larger pans will take less time.)  I actually cooked this once in a 9×9 square pan and cut it up into cake squares!  It took about 30 minutes to cook, so that’s another option as well!

Tell me when you’re planning on trying this recipe!
